I See Green

I thought arriving at 645am was early enough to get a decent parking space, boy was I wrong! I blocked the car in front of mine, behind, left and right! I didn't think it was going to be that packed at that hour.

I knew going to an event such as this, I would bump into a lot of photographers who are eager to snap each others' picture, uh huh H&B is right, quite a nightmare for us She-Shooters. I didn't really want to think about that but it was hard to ignore. I knew I came there with a mission: to take some decent photos, so that's what I did (hopefully these photos turn out ok!)

It was my first time being on the other side, I must say, it's more exciting than sitting at the grandstand. There's just so much more to see, you can feel the atmosphere I can't even begin to describe it!

Dodging photographers, having a good time, under the sun... If I had to do it again, I'd say why the hell not?

Happy 24th

My mate and I braved the dark and cold morning yesterday to catch the National Day celebrations. I don't know about my friend but it was a first for me. We thought we got there quite early but when we got to our designated parking area, it was already filled to the brim. Having gotten permission to block some cars, we set out to fill our bellies with breakfast and then ventured out to Jalan Sultan only to find ourselves in the middle of a She-Shooter's nightmare. There were shutterbugs left right and centre! To quote my friend, it looked like somebody puked photographers in the middle of the Capital. This made it quite difficult to take photos while trying not to get spotted haha I only hope that if any of you did spot us, you'd keep that little secret to yourself ;)

In any case, I did enjoy myself. The sights and sounds of the Capital on a 23rd of February is certainly something to experience. The following are just some samples of my interpretation of the morning's parade. More to come shortly.

One day I went to the beach hoping to get some shots of the waves breaking. I thought it would be easy but of course I was wrong! Timing is VERY important for this. So I sat among the rocks waiting and waiting. Took over a hundred of shots but nothing really turned out great! But here are two, maybe next time then.

Everything's Rosy

Did you know that when you give someone roses, different colours signify different meanings?

Red is meant to show deep love while pink roses can mean either gentle feelings of love, gratitude or admiration. White roses may show innocence, purity or even secrecy. However, if you are a guy trying to court a girl (or vice versa), take care not to send her yellow flowers cos you would mean to say that your relationship is purely friends only.

These are the results of a failed experiment with long exposure. Didn't expect much having taken them partly handheld at 2s with IS!! I seriously need to get a tripod head...did I hear someone say Singapore? Sketch?? hehehe

Land of the Rising Sun

Some photos from my trip to Tokyo, Japan late 2007. Due to the hectic schedule, I hardly had a chance to explore the city and take photos. Despite the short visit, the city did leave a lasting impression on me. Where else would you find men in suits riding scooters and bicycles? I'd love to visit again someday, what do you think of a Japan outing O&L?...Sketch? :p Do mind the noise in the photos, half of these were taken from inside a car at about 10x zoom!

Macro photography is proving to be rather difficult. You've got to be prepared to be really patient especially if you're dealing with subjects that can't seem to stay still for very long, like red ants for example haha
